Philosophy for Change

James Nottingham's blog - Philosophy for Change

If you know of anyone between the ages of 17 and 22 who wants to develop an understanding of Philosophy for Children (P4C) and cultural studies then I recommend the 6th International Philosophy Youth Summer Congress taking place in Chiapas, Mexico between 24th July - 6th August this year.

The Congress typically brings together young people from Mexico, UK and Costa Rica. It aims to offer a reflective philosophical space, where those taking part can rehearse and investigate possible solutions to the key questions of our time with their peers. In so doing, skills and processes needed for considered decision making and action can be developed and practised.

The congress begins in San Cristobal de las Casas,a municipality in the central highlands of Chiapas, and finishes in san Cristobal. During the two weeks delegates will explore the Lacanha rainforest and stay in an outstanding example of eco tourism. They will visit archeological sites, including Palenque  and Yaxchilan  and engage seriously with young people who are part of first nations communities through enquiry.
